Fishing on the San Saba River
Years ago, men dove under the banks of the San Saba River and “noodled” or “rock
pounded”. They would stick their entire arm under water in a cave, find a catfish,
stick their hands in their mouths and pull them out! Believe it or not there are
still huge catfish hiding under the banks of the river just waiting to be caught
with grasshoppers or worms. The river is also ideal for fly-fishing where
the bass and perch are just waiting for "catch and release.”
