Hiking & Mountain Biking the Smith I Bar Ranch
Hiking the Smith I Bar Ranch is a totally different experience. You have over 2,200
acres to explore the different geological formations, ravines, the San Saba River
and over-hanging cliffs along the river. Due to the vastness of the ranch, you will
have complete solitude – just you, the wind, an armadillo, and of course deer and
turkey galore. Many of our guests are bringing their GPS components and spending
days discovering new areas of the ranch. Then some hike to be alone and bond with
old Lipan Apache spirits that once roamed this country. The workout alone and fresh
air will turn you into a new person!
Talk about an amazing journey - mountain biking on property without other bikers!
Again, the ranch is so large it will take a full day to bike the entire area. There
are old roads and trails create by cattle and deer throughout the ranch that you
can follow. The trails also vary in elevation due ancient seas that existed millions
of years ago.
